The combination of App Inventor and Studio-Based Learning provided us with good
introductions to constructionist pedagogies. Neither instructor had previous experience
with SBL: one had attended a workshop on the topic, which was the inspiration for its use
in the experimental class. We learned along with the students, and the positive experience
convinced us to use this technique again. This suggests that this combination may be
useful for other instructors who are looking to expand their own horizons as they
introduce students to exciting new technologies.
