intact eggs were randomly selected from each replicate (50% of the eggs produced on that day), identified, and weighed
(using a 0.01 g-precision digital scale). Those eggs were used to determine internal and external quality characteristics
(egg specific gravity, eggshell thickness, albumen height). Egg specific gravity was determined using a saline solution (1060 to 1100 g cm-³ water) and albumen height was calculated by means of a digital caliper. Eggshell thickness was measured central region of the egg with the aid of a digital caliper. Both yolk weight and the shell weight were calculated as a percentage of egg. Haugh unit was calculated as shown in Eq. 2.
