Kirimaya Co, a property development pioneer in Khao Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima, is keen on building its resort brand overseas, starting with Japan.
Arat Sawatatat, Kirimaya's managing director, said it would choose a historic destination like Khao Yai, which is a Unesco world heritage site.
"We plan to develop more resorts under the Kirimaya brand outside Khao Yai but not in Thailand as the brand is too strong and we want to be a pioneer in the new destination," he said. "Kirimaya is starting to attract more Japanese tourists."
Meanwhile, Kirimaya has renewed confidence about the saleability of its Khao Yai project after the resort's land documents were proved legal.
Land authorities alleged in April that Kirimaya Golf Resort and Spa encroached on protected Khao Yai forest land and that the company's land use documents were wrongfully issued. Officials have now accepted the legality of the land documents.
"This will help build customers' confidence, as there are many projects in Khao Yai stopping sales and marketing activities," Kitti Thanakitamnuay, chairman of the company's advisers, said.
The company has land plots spanning 1,200 rai in Khao Yai, half of which has been developed since 2005 into the Kirimaya Resort, an 18-hole golf course, the Muthi Maya Forest Pool Villa Resort and property for sale.
The latest project for sale is the Atta Lakeside Resort Suite, now 70% sold.
Kirimaya expects full-year revenue of 550 million baht, up from 300-400 million.
