4. CFD simulations of single and double-span roof
geometries: settings and parameters
In this section the computational geometry, domain and grid,
boundary conditions and solver settings for the evaluation of the
single-span and double-span roofs are presented.
4.1. Computational geometry, domain and grid
The computational model of the leeward sawtooth roof geometry
E2 has dimensions as indicated in Section 2 and Fig. 2. The
computational domain is depicted in Fig. 5a and is in accordance
with the best practice guidelines as published by Franke et al. [40]
and Tominaga et al. [41]. As in the validation study, the upstream
length of the domain is reduced to 3 times the height of the
building to limit horizontal inhomogeneity of the approach-flow
