I'm writing to inquire about Master of Arts Programme in Health Social Science (International Programme)
I graduated from Faculty of Policy Management(bachelor) in Keio University in Japan 7 years ago and am working as administration staff in the same university. I'm planning to study and conduct a research regarding policy management, especially medical policy, however, I have almost no experience nor systematical knowledge in this field. In particular, I'm interested in the responses of Thai government and other related organisations to HIV/AIDS pandemic in 80-90's - verifying it in terms of politics and economics and looking for the capability to apply it to the trend of HIV/AIDS epidemic in the world as of now.
I would like to know if your course approves my back ground and is suitable for my research.
I'm now reading books and theses to collect information about these issues to catch up on the lack of my knowledge, however, I'm also unfamiliar with academic skills which will be necessary to conduct a research, as analytic methods, field work methods, technical writing skills and so on. Can I be taught these kinds of skills after enrollment? Or should I study basic skills in advance?
Furthermore, I'm worried about my command of English because this is the first time for me to study courses conducted in English overseas if my application is successful. Are most of the students enrolling in this course able to speak English fluently as a native speaker?
At last, after graduation, what kind of companies or organizations are alumni working for? I'm very interested in this point. I'm planning to work for an international organization or NGO related to public health or medical policy making.
