1 Introduction
Bentre Province is one of the coastal provinces were located in the Mekong Delta (Vietnam). Most of the area is used in agriculture. The weather is tropical monsoon, with a variety of fruit trees and animals, especially Bentre Province is famous about coconut and products that made by coconut in Vietnam.
Besides, due to this province located nearly and affected by the sea. Therefore, Bentre is planned some cultivation models that are suitable for littoral region (in common are rice-shrimp and shrimp). This change in production model help local farmers to adapt with characteristic of soil, land and water; moreover, income of these models is higher than traditional model (double-rice-crop, mono-rice-crop).
However, in some recent years the change of weather was extremely complicated: rising sea level, increasing temperature, increasing rainfall, drought, salinization and epidemic disease on both rice and shrimp, some place cannot harvest and do not have income so the life of the local population is extremely difficult.
Therefore, this study is proposed to apply remote sensing and GIS as a support tool that help managers to determine the ineffective shrimp production region (stopped producing in dry season in 2016). Research completed with expectations as the basic source of information in determining the disadvantaged areas, combining social data in order to suggest the solutions.
