The Cebu Declaration on
Migrant Workers calls on source and destination
countries to “Promote decent, humane, productive, dignified and remunerative employment for
migrant workers”. In 2013 ASEAN Declaration on Social Protection reaffirms the Member States’ commitment to build
an ASEAN community that is socially responsible and people oriented by, notably, fostering national social protection floors in the region and recognizing the rights of migrant workers and other vulnerable groups to “equitable access to social protection that is a basic human right and based on a rights-based/needs-based, lifecycle approach”.
