This chapter or section should include an overview of the research question, where the question came from and why you have chosen to investigate this particular issue. You are setting the scene, the fine detail will follow. For now you want to introduce your reader to the research question, matters. After you have set the scene you will provide the reader with your specific research aim and you are using a research hypothesis then this is where you present that hypothesis. Everything that follows was driven by this aim or hypothesis so spell it out from the beginning and make it as clear as you can; there is little point in attempting to dress it up, this will only lead to confusion and may even suggest that you were not quite sure what is was you were investigating.
