Combustion of 32PC68RDF without limestone, when SO2
concentration was not reduced, revealed details of alkali
chloride capture by aluminosilicates and sulfur. At lee-side,
strong chlorine deposition occurred with weak Al, Si and S
deposition. At 50- up, instead, deposition of S, Al and Si was
relatively strong, while Cl deposition was weak suggesting
simultaneous alkali aluminosilicates formation and sulfation
with high SO2 concentration in flue gas (600 mg/N m3).
Scale-up results from 100 kW to 4 MW are shown in Fig.
10, where depositions during combustion of similar feedstocks
to lee and wind-sides at 500 -C are compared. Chlorine
deposition to wind-side tended to be stronger in the 4 MW than
in the 100 kW CFB reactor, even though chlorine concentration
was lower in the feedstocks fired in the 4 MW CFB. However,
Al and Si concentration in the wind-side tended to be higher in
the 100 kW CFB.
