Some people come up to me and show me pictures of their sons, daughters, wives, and husbands. They ask me to contact journalists in their country to find out what is happening. I try to make them understand that it is not possible. I try to tell them that I can not find their relatives. I explain that I'm used to providing the news, not waiting for it, so I understand how they feel But they either do not understand or they do not believe me I do not blame them. When people are frightened they do not think logically. It's understandable, but it does not make me feel any better that I can not help. I felt particularly helpless when I spoke to a young woman I met today. She ran toward me and put a photograph in my hand. "It's my dad. I can not reach him," she said. "What should I do? I've been trying to call him for hours. I keep sending emails too, but I do not get any.
