The final form of the stabilized/solidified waste must be stable,
compatible with the environment, and, if possible, of commercial
use. Great considerations should be given to waste and process
compatibility to avoid detrimental effects on the final product.
These detrimental effects include heat generation, release of toxic
materials, loss of strength, etc. Martin and Johnson ~1986! summarized
compatibility considerations of selected waste categories.
The following section presents the most important characteristics
of the stabilized/solidified waste that have been evaluated and
found to be acceptable.
