Australian of the Year Awards & Concert 2016
Get ready to cheer inspirational Australian achievers and rock along with some of our nation’s best performers. The Australian of the Year Awards are the most anticipated awards for our nation and this year's announcement will combine with the traditional Australia Day eve concert for a celebration like no other.
Combined on one stage in front of Parliament House, the Australian of the Year Awards and Concert will bring together great Australians and great entertainment in one unforgettable event starting at 5:00pm, held on the lawn of Parliament House.
Australian music legend Jimmy Barnes headlines the evening, promising to deliver his classic Australian rock anthems. Along with Jimmy Barnes, the concert will feature chart topping Australian artists Samantha Jade, Nathaniel, and Cyrus Villanueva.
The Australian of the Year Awards and Concert is a free, family friendly event which is open to the public on the lawns in front Parliament House on 25 January 2016.
Gates will open at 5:00pm so get in early to grab a spot on the lawns and enjoy the evening’s program:
5:00pm – 7:00pm Live music performances
7:00pm – 7:30pm Roulettes display overhead
7:30pm – 9:00pm Australian of the Year Awards
9:00pm – 10:30pm Live music performances
While you’re welcome to bring a picnic and low chairs, please consider leaving the glass at home to ensure a safe event for everyone.
The easiest way to get to and from the event is via public transport. Action Buses will run special services for the event on 25 January. To plan your trip by bus, please check details at action.act.gov.au
The Australian of the Year Awards will be broadcast on Monday 25 January at 7.30pm on ABCTV, and live at 7.30pm AEDT on News24 and ABC iview.
