In analog control system, instruments produce a 4-20 mA output signal that travels from field devices to control room and marshaling rack over twisted pair cables. Hundreds or thousands of cables are assigned in the analog process to send the process values and manipulate values [1,2]. Case of overcoming and limitation of analog signal, many structures of processes automation have been changed from traditional 4-20 mA current loop into digital signal that avails of low cost, powerful processors for digital communication enhance data available from the plant [3,4]. Furthermore, engineering companies and end-users are spending efforts to design process automation to fulfill flexible applications, easy installation and commissioning, easy diagnosing and troubleshooting [5]. End-users are looking for wireless devices to solve that solution and replacement 4-20 mA analog signal [6]. The paper presents the technique to install 4-20 mA wired HART device to THUM adapter for wireless, configure WirelessHART devices with HART gateway, and data mapping from gateway to PLC and SCADA system. The paper describes case study by installation HART devices in process automation that applies wired and WirelessHART devices to operate with S7-300 PLC, and SCADA software. The monitoring and configuration from the proposed technique is a role of the command center in the open system, and it can support end-user to modify their plants from wired HART to wireless with WirelessHART technology.
