UNIQLO has seen an overall growth in profit from 2002 to 2012 with an estimated profit of 20 billion yen. The growth in international business performance shows that opening stores internationally will result in a profit for UNIQLO. The company was also planning a unique shopping experience to differentiate themselves from fast fashion competitors. They planned on hiring workers who speak multiple languages to increase international visitors in flagship stores (Mohanty, 2012). UNIQLO also planned on hiring employees in the children’s clothing section that were trained in childcare and employees that were knowledgeable in the local lifestyle scene. Tadashi Yanai of Fast Retailing believes that UNIQLO must differentiate themselves from the competitors by balancing price and quality with their own unique way of business (Mohanty, 2012).
