In general, the physical–chemical characteristics found for the
Brazilian berries are in agreement with the literature. However,
the variation between the characteristics presented in this paper
and the previously published data can be explained by the influence
of the cultivar, time of harvest, maturity, ripening stage,
weather and soil conditions, sun exposure, location of fruit on
the plant and post-harvest handling on the chemical and physical
characteristics of the fruit (Faniadis et al., 2010).
