Root growth was observed at the base of the explants after 7 days of
culture on the fresh half strength MS medium supplemented with different
growth regulators (Fig. 1d & e). The maximum root induction
percentage and average root length were also measured after 6 weeks
(Table 3). Root formation is often inhibited by cytokinins, especially
BA. Rooting of microshoots plays an important role in acclimatization. The present study was in line with this observation and the maximum
root induction percentage (90%) from shoots was observed on
the half strength MS medium fortified with NAA (3.0 mg L−1
) alone.The average root length was maximum 5.29 ± 0.27 cm at this concentration.
