In short, like you, I was blindly searching with no idea what I wanted to do with my life and where I wanted to go. I had a series of brief flirtations with investment banking (thank god that didn't materialize), management consulting, teaching, entrepreneurship, marketing and academia.
I felt adrift in the middle of a large, murky sea. Not only was I sailing without a destination, my compass was pointing me in all over the place! I couldn't decide on which way to go.
However, I am perfectly content with where I am.
I have declared a major in Statistics. This is the last thing I would have guessed I'd be studying when I entered college. In high school, I was mediocre at math and uninterested in statistics. However, not only have I developed a burgeoning curiosity for statistics, but I've actually negotiated with my college advisor to do my statistics concentration in graduate-level courses. Not only that, but I'm also very confident in the direction I'm sailing and how my life will turn out. It honestly feels like a storm has passed.
