Do you have a dream? I have a dream. You have a dream. We all have a dream, but the difference is how we realize our dreams, how we obtain our dreams, and how our dreams change us.
I think people tend to dream without putting any real effort into realizing those dreams. Because of that, we just dream of the life we want. But if we put our dreams into action, we can start to live our dreams and achieve our goals eventually/at the proper time. We should invest our time doing things from which we can gain something good. We should not make our life just a dream and allow ourselves to become miserable. Our dreams are our foundations of tomorrow. Live for the things we want in life so that our purpose in this world will be fulfilled.
For me, I believe in never giving up. All of my life I have been the type of person who always does everything I can to accomplish my dreams. One of my biggest dreams is to be the person who has an important role in developing a high-speed railway system in Thailand.
During high school, before the university entrance exam, I thought long and hard about what I want to do with my life. And ever since I could remember, my one true dream was to build a high-speed railway. I am a girl from the countryside, who loves to travel by train rather than use other types of transportation. Since I was a child, I have often traveled by train and I love it so much because it makes me feel safe, it makes me excited, and I always enjoy the scenic view throughout the trip. These reasons made me decide to choose to study transportation engineering so that I can use the knowledge and skills from my classes to take part in the development of a high-speed railway system in the future.
When I started my study at Suranaree University of Technology, I felt that it was very difficult compared to high school. I study really hard and sometimes I am so tired, but that helps me gain more knowledge of the rail industry. As a woman studying transportation engineering, it was also difficult to adapt myself.to work with male engineers. Research shows that only two percent of all engineering students in Thailand are women, but despite this statistic, I have really enjoyed being a woman in this industry; I embrace it as a chance to stand out. Although I agree that there are some behaviors in the workplace that need to be addressed when it comes to gender imbalance, I mainly see being a woman as an advantage, as it brings a unique insight into the workplace, and it can make a difference in the industry. If you do what you love, you can always be happy and ready to overcome any obstacles to success.
I know it may be difficult to follow my dream to accomplish my goal. But I believe that I can do anything that I want and be anything that I want to be. For all girls aspiring to be engineers, do it, don’t let anyone tell you it’s not for you, since you know yourself better than anyone else, and the thing that will make you most successful is doing what you love.
In fact, I have probably failed at it a hundred different times every day in life. But the beautiful part is I’m no longer dreaming. I’m trying to make it real. And if I couldn't make it then that's fine for me because I don't want to live the rest of my life with the word “regret”. I don't want to say, 'What if?’
If you’ve got a dream, you’ll have to do the same as I have done. Finding your passion isn’t about adding another item to your schedule or list of goals. It’s about creating space that enables you to do what you were made to do. Don’t be afraid to follow your dream. Do anything that you can to achieve your goal. I believe that “If you can imagine it, you can create it. If you can dream it, you can become it.”
