Fig. 14 shows, even at very low cement content, the
increase in strength and stiffness is evident. At low cement content,
below 10%, ductile behavior is manifested, with the post peak
stress decreasing gradually with strain in the manner similar
to that exhibited by natural marine clay. At higher cement content,
the treated specimen becomes much more brittle, with abrupt
drops in postpeak stress with strain, which is more akin to that of
highly structured or sensitive soils ~Leroueil and Vaughan 1990!.
