As alluded to earlier,
the qualitative analysis of student responses suggests that several objectives were met with the training format:
differentiating between effective and ineffective teamwork and communication techniques and skills and analyzing team-based performance in a patient crisis in the OR during debriefing.
Clearly, the students found the debriefing both worthwhile and educational, reflecting its critical role in assuring learning in SBT. Emphasizing “what is right” over “who is right” during the debriefing enhanced training effectiveness.
