INTRODUCTION
The goal of labour analgesia is to provide adequate pain
relief without causing any harm to fetus or mother. Labour
analgesia can be given by several techniques. Central
neuraxial analgesia is now considered the gold standard
technique for labour analgesia. However, this requires
continuous monitoring by a trained anesthetist. Labour
pain is perceived more severe by the parturient than by
the medical personnel. In many setups labour analgesia
is not provided because of lack of trained personnel and
