Here’s SCANDAL on this noon’s Osama no Brunch, “Thank You Music" corner! On today’s programme, SCANDAL visits Setagaya Park in Tokyo, as well as other eating places that they enjoy.
The band explained to the hosts about the meaning behind their band name and then revealed that during their debut period, they stayed nearby to this park. In the beginning, only Haruna and Rina stayed together and Tomomi and Mami would only come during the weekends (they stayed put in their own homes at other times). They would come to this park for walks.
Next, we go to a sandwiches and hamburger cafe called FUNGO Mishukuhon, where all the members recommend the avocado and cheese burger. Tomomi explains that the reason behind it is that before coming to Tokyo, she had no idea avocado existed. After that she fell in love with avocado ♥ The hosts laugh over the way Timo speaks, because it’s completely different from how she is on stage. They haven’t ate this burger since 5 years, so how do they feel about it now? It seems like nothing as changed, and they still find it delicious.
As they eat, SCANDAL also talked about how they met at the dance and vocal school. They also brought up the sudden pre-debut tour they did in America. An interesting thing that came up was during that tour, Tomomi actually lost her passport! She’d left it on top of her baggage as it went through the security check tunnel in the airport, but ultimately a staff came and returned it to her. From that lesson, Timo has learned about the importance of her passport and never lost it ever again. Mami then bursts her bubble and reveals that she’s recently lost her credit card (LOL).
We then go to Shinkiba for a boat ride! The girls are really happy about it and they’re also going to do a Mentaiko Mochi Monjayaki (pan-fried batter) on board! It turns out to be delicious. As they go on, the hosts also do a ‘claim’ segment with the girls, which in short reveals things about the band that you never knew. The first claim comes from SCANDAL’s manager: Actually the members are constantly indecisive! They will not answer whenever you ask them what they’ll like to eat! Yamamoto-san, the assistant manager reveals the girls would only want to have ‘something fun’. Mami says that ‘something fun' to them means party-like food, like potato or fried chicken. Haruna says it's also cause everyone likes different sorts of food…so maybe it's easier if each member takes one day each (laughs).
Next, SCANDAL talks about the ‘supernatural’ events that have happened to them. Rina says that aside from Tomomi, everyone else’s 6th sense is strong. She then shocks everyone, saying she has ever saw a tengu. It was during Summer at Osaka, where there’s a mini pool in front of her house (this was when she was in kindergarten). Having put the water in, there the tengu appeared and Rina claims it is about 2m. As it had on the tengu mask, so she has no idea about the face behind that mask. (→ SCANDAL has also talked about the supernatural before on MUSIC STATION last year. You’re welcome to check it out HERE.)
Going back to talk on SCANDAL’s music, what is the most memorable live for SCANDAL? Haruna brings up their first ever one-man live at the Osaka-jo Hall last year, a definite dream come true for them. Rina said it felt like a gift to them from the audience, and she could feel the love. This year, the girls will also do another Osaka-jo Hall live, along with 2 days at the Yokohama Arena. (→ Update: Bus tour announced for SCANDAL’s Arena live. Updates and links HERE.)
As SCANDAL is also going to release “Departure" soon, what has Mami, who has composed and written the song got to say? Mami explains that Spring is a very important season for SCANDAL; From the release of their first Indies CD, to the Budokan and Osaka-jo Hall live. They do like the other seasons too but this one is especially important to them. ~ That is all for SCANDAL on "Osama no Brunch”!
