Seven Studied Canals in Chia-Nan Irrigation Association
Seven canals with different values of water flow rate Q
and effective water head (H ≥ 2 m) in Chia-Nan Irrigation
Association are properly selected. The names of these seven
canals are respectively White-Water Stream (A), Dong-Shan
Line (B), South Line (C), Ben-Chi Lake 3+974 (D), Bon-Pi
Branch Line (E), Mar-Do No. 5 Water Gate (F), and Mar-Do
Staring Point (G).
Figs. 2 and 3 respectively show the average water head
H in m and average monthly water flow rate Q in m3/s
(C.M.S.) of the seven canals. It is seen from Fig. 2 that Ben-
Chi Lake 3+974 (D) has the highest water head of about 8 m
while the water heads of other canals are around 2-3 m. On
the other hand, Fig. 3 shows that the South Line (C) has the
largest water flow rate about 3.5 m3/s, and Mar-Do No. 5
Water Gate (F) and Mar-Do Staring Point (G) have water flow
rate around 2-2.5 m3/s. White-Water Stream (A) and Ben-Chi
Lake 3+974 (D) have water flow rate less than 2 m3/s while
Dong-Shan Line (B) and Bon-Pi Branch Line (E) have the
smallest water flow rate in seven canals. Appendix shows the
photos of these seven irrigation canals.
