Retrieval by Browsing
Browsing is another major form of retrieval activity. In comparion with searching, browsing did not receive much attention in the IR community until the 1990s. with the development of cd-rom systems, opac systems, and particularly the hyperstructured web, browsing gained popularity quickly and became economically feasible in information retrieval when the user on longer needed to worry about the connection charge as in the case of professional online IR systems. Today, users can retrieve information by browsing at their leisure.
