3.2. Ethanol production from FW hydrolyzate
The glucose-rich hydrolyzate obtained from the pretreatment of
mixed FW by the fungal mash was used as a sole substrate for
ethanol production. A series of batch experiments in 250 mL flasks
with a working volume of 100 mL were first conducted to
investigate the effect of initial glucose concentrations in the range
of 40–116 g/L on the ethanol fermentation (Fig. 2). Prior to fermentation,
