Physical symptoms. In a study of factors influencing self-rated health in traffic-related mTBI, nearly 30% of the 929 subjects reported poor health six weeks after injury.18 In this and other studies of mTBI, pain (particularly neck, shoulder, and low back pain) was a significant factor in poor postinjury health. Such physical symptoms as headache, sleep problems, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, blurred vision, and increased sensitivity to light and noise are also common.
