The Marine-Geo Digital Library is an interactive digital data repository and metadata catalog that offers a suite of services for data discovery and preservation. The Marine-Geo Digital Library currently provides open web-based access to 52.8TB of data, corresponding to over 617,000 digital data files from more than 2,595 research programs dating back to the 1970’s. The repository can be accessed through a geospatially enabled search interface and map-based data explorer, and is accessible through web services that follow the specifications of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). The Marine-Geo Digital Library offers data preservation services including long-term archiving, the registration of data with DOIs® for persistent identification and formal citation, and links to related scholarly publications. The Marine-Geo Digital Library provides reports summarizing data download activity to all contributing investigators twice annually.
