This was a great speech, despite the fact that it was poorly delivered. Don't think I'm a hater: I don't hate Jobs or Apple products. The way he used "just" his three stories and sold his points was masterful. But he didn't move from behind the podium and spent most of his time just reading the speech. There's lessons to be taken from even great speeches like this one.
your point? A great speech is a great speech, even if he read off of a piece of paper.
My point is that there are many aspects to speaking: three large categories are structure, content, and delivery. Speaking is not writing: it is speaking to a group as you would speak to a person, only bigger. I agree Jobs' structure and content are excellent. He has a unique delivery style that he used in many other places; the anti-Steve Ballmer yet he achieved what Ballmer was trying for. My point is that he didn't use that style here. Here's another way to look at it: imagine how much more powerful this speech would have been had he not simply read it. It's not disrespectful to point that out.
Could you direct us all to the clips where you give inspiring speeches to the newer generation please? Mainly the ones where you deliver to thousands of captivated people within a globally recognised, world leading institution? They must be truly amazing given your knowledge and experience in this field.. Would love to connect on linkedin and twitter too, as this will give me the opportunity to be marketed by someone like yourself who is a key influencer in the areas of motivation, coaching, mentoring and leadership.. Can't wait to connect Gary.

Wow, if this kind of sarcasm is the best you can do, I suspect your level of understanding of speech delivery leaves something to be desired. I briefly explained both the excellent parts of the speech (stories, selling) and the problems I have with the speech delivery, and all you do is bring in totally irrelevant points and personal insults. I might have added that most of his other speeches are much better than this one. You probably don't know this, but even great speakers such as Steve Jobs employ speech coaches. I can understand that you would not want to engage me on objective criteria such as I have brought forth. Thanks for the stimulating conversation anyway.
