The robot functionality also must be assessed in context of the unique properties of the hospital and the pharmacy. For instance, in terms of relating use and functionality to unique hospital-based aspects, the volumes of medication delivered by the robot in the STC and GBP were comparable, even though the GBP has a pneumatic tube system, because there is a dissimilar volume of overall activity, with greater activity in the GBP. The robot was useful in the GBP as a companion device when the tube system was malfunction- ing, when there was less of a sense of urgency, to relieve tube system traffic, and to deliver medications not com- patible with the tube system.
