It seems only that the US Food and Drug Administration should make experimental drugs available to terminally-ill patients and their doctors. It's true that these drugs have not yet been proved effective or safe. In fact, they might cause earlier death and increased suffering for those who choose to try then. However, many doctors believe some of the drugs might prolong or even save some of their patient lives. Moreover, access to experimental drugs would give patients hope. would give them and their family peace of mind that every possible cure had been tried. To deny terminally ill patients drugs that might help them is cruel. And, of course, the knowledge gained from making experimental drugs available to these patients would lead to more raid medical advances.
