Note to teachers: This is the kind of story that is easy to make into a play. The easiest way is to read the story sentence by sentence and have chosen students act it out. Or, you could write a little script with some dialog.
An honest cabbie
Prathuan Muenrung is a cabbie, a taxi driver. Last Monday, he picked up a Japanese tourist at Suvarnabhumi airport and drove him into the city.
The Japanese man paid the fare and got out of the taxi.
Soon after his passenger left, Mr Prathuan noticed that he had forgotten some things.
Mr Prathuan waited for the tourist to return, but he didn't.
When he looked inside a bag left by the tourist he found money – lots of money, 4.7 million Japanese yen. That's almost 1.3 million baht in Thai money.
No, he didn't take the money. Instead he called the radio station FM 91 Trafficpro. They found out the money belonged to 56-year-old Watanabe Tetsuro. Theycontacted Mr Tetsuro and arranged a meeting with Mr Prathuan so he could return the money.
Mr Tetsuro was very happy and appreciative, so appreciative that he gave Mr Prathuan 200,000 yen – about 53,000 baht.
Why was Mr Tetsuro carrying so much money? He said he didn't like using credit cards.
