The Japanese value their commitment to the company and not necessarily their individual performance; unlike Americans. We want to be praised and valued for our individual success. Japan enjoys the praising of teams because of their unity and commitment. An American worker will feel motivated if they are paid well, for example, because it makes them feel like they are a part of something big, and are more likely to stand by it. The Japanese need immediate personal relationships with other employees and the manager. The Japanese also want recognition for their input in their department; those things should never go unnoticed in any culture. If the Japanese want to feel like they are a part of something big then they should be taken in as quickly as possible: relationships right away, a pay raise, and they want their input valued
