From the moment the silver-haired male first met you in Dewford Cave, he could tell you were a person of increasingly rare originality.
He had been away from his 'throne' for quite some time before that fateful first encounter between you two, the Champion having grown bored of waiting for seemingly nonexistent challengers to reach the Pokemon League. It seemed that, these days, the effort of travelling the region in search of badges and fame just wasn't appealing to much of the youth of Hoenn.
Personally, he blamed the recent advances in technology. Steven had always been a fan of the natural entertainments of the world, which was one of the reasons why he was deep in the empty cave when he first met you.
Having already paid his father a visit in Rustboro and effectively enjoying a stroll through the nearby countryside, the male decided to pay homage to the past endeavors of his youth. Yes, it had been quite a while since he had last had a chance to go spelunking for rare stones. And, if anyone knew the male, he did rather enjoy the shiny marvels that stones were.
Mounting his loyal Skarmory, Steven had set off into the skies of the Hoenn region; gazing blandly down at the scenery below as it passed. It was all too familiar to the boy, he having lived in the region his entire life. He had even become the Champion somehow, much to his current displeasure. Don't get him wrong, becoming the Pokemon League Champion was an honor the stone collector never thought he would receive. Every trainer in the world would kill to have his title, so...
Why did he feel so dissatisfied?
His quiet pondering had persisted even as he dismounted his faithful flying-type, the thoughts haunting the Steel-type user throughout the winding caverns of Dewford Cave. Soon enough, the blue-eyed male found himself before the familiar ancient paintings the cave was famous for. Although he would have usually observed the splendid etchings with awe, he could only stare dully towards the faded marks this time. His mind was plagued with both boredom and forlorn; the Champion's brain seeming to rack itself continuously for the answer to his un-asked inquiry.
Why WAS he so dissatisfied?
Steven Stone had literally everything any sane person could ask for. Fame, wealth, power...
What could be missing that made his chest feel so bare? The heir to the Devon Corporation could only stare down at the rocky ground at this question, the silence of the vacant cavern around him his only answer.
Steven never did like silence...
