This residence permit application is for you if you are intending to travel to Finland to work as an au pair in a family.
The purpose of an au pair position is to provide a young person (aged 17 to 30) an opportunity to become acquainted with
the language and culture of the target country in exchange for performing light housework duties. The purpose of an au pair
position is not to gain a household employee. Domestic servants must use the form OLE_TY1 to apply for a residence
permit. Generally, prospective au pairs are required to have studied or taken an interest in Finnish or Swedish language or
culture, for instance Finnish history or politics. The working hours of an au pair must be set so that he/she will have the
opportunity to take classes in Finnish or Swedish while in Finland.
The maximum duration of residence on au pair status is one year.
Carefully fill in and sign the application. Incomplete information will delay the processing of the application and may lead to
its rejection.
An application may be submitted to a Finnish diplomatic mission abroad or to the local police in Finland. A processing fee
will be collected when the application is submitted, according to the Decree on charges. Read the instructions for filling in the
