The selection of organic solvents for activated carbon
regeneration
The ability of n-pentane, methylene dichloride, ethyl ether and
dodecylbenzenesulphonic acid sodium (four solvents with very different
polarities) for regenerating the exhausted activated carbon
was investigated. The change in adsorbed quantity of organic substances
on activated carbon before and after regeneration by the
different organic solvents indicated the best organic solvent type
and regeneration conditions for the activated carbon.
