There are several explanations for the higher content of vitamin E and oryzanol in the oil extracted using sub- critical carbon dioxide. One possible explanation is that the mild extraction temperature used in the subcritical carbon dioxide method allows the retention of thermola- bile compounds. Nevertheless, various extraction meth- ods and solvents have been reported to result in higher levels of tocopherols and tocotrienols in rice bran oil than those in rice bran oil obtained using the SCDS method.
