1. Introduction
The use of natural resources—notably plants, animals, and
fungi—for the purpose of healing dates back to the ancient
civilizations [1]. In the earliest Materia Medica, many such
remedies were of the topical kind, used for the treatment of
dermatological afflictions of the acute or chronic nature.
Modern burn wound management includes hydration (oral or
intravenous); topical antiseptics, creams or ointments, and
dressings; as well as analgesia and oral antibiotics. The purpose
is to briefly review modern practices in wound management,
and to point-out imaging venues in improved burn wound
evaluation that may potentially guide treatment and main
bioresources that may be beneficial in pharmacotherapy
