The use of EIES varies quite widely across member economies. Based upon an evaluation
conducted at the workshop, two economies (KOR; SIN) were determined to maintain high-level
operational systems that are well established and highly regarded. Several other APEC
economies (BRU; CHN; INA; JPN; MAS; PHI; THA; VIE) are currently developing these systems.
Two economies (AUS; PNG) neither have nor are developing EIES at this time.
The development of a standardized protocol allowing trade partners to interface seamlessly with
the system already in place would advance supply chain performance. Workshop participants
designed an electronic information exchange framework, entitled APEC-NET, that would enable
all governments and businesses in the APEC region to accurately and efficiently exchange portlogistics
information.
