Inhibitory effect of HC on infection of cells with IBV.
Vero cells were infected with HC-treated IBV and the
inhibitory effect of HC was analysed by plaque assays.
Partial inhibition of the infectivity was determined at
0.97 mg/ml (approximately 50% inhibition rate) and
complete inhibition at 62.5 mg/ml, respectively (Figure
3a). To confirm the virucidal effect of HC, the primary
CEK cells were prepared and infected with HC-treated
IBV followed by plaque assays. As shown in Figure 3b,
the inhibition rate of cell infection was also increased with
the increased concentrations of HC. When the controls,
GD and LiCl were analysed, the GD showed a direct
inhibitory effect on IBV infection in vitro. In contrast,
LiCl and dilution solution (0.9% NaCl) did not show
inhibition for IBV infection
