LED lamps are most characterized for their luminous efficacy.
While the luminous efficacy of incandescent, halogen and fluores-
cent lamps is roughly 15, 25 and 55 lumens per Watt (lm/W)
respectively, most current commercial LED lamps have a luminous
efficacy in the range of 70–100 lm/W. For example a 60 W incan-
descent bulb produces close to 900 lm, which, on the other hand,
can be produced with a LED lamp with a power consumption
around 10 W. The current lab record for LED lamps is 303 lm/W.
