Some 15 or so years in a conversation with my younger sister about what I was doing to save a struggling business, she said “Gosh Michael you remind me of the speech given to the 1947 graduating class Harvard Law School by Sir Winston Churchill (it is in the Guinness Book Of World records I believe as the shortest graduation speech every given). When introduced he said “ Never surrender, never give up”! I knew she always believed in me and that I mattered but that was an incredible life changing comment she made and it changed me forever. To this day I say it to myself at least once each day and those closest to me know that comment made me the man I am today.
So this is for my beautiful, incredibly wonderful sister Linda Kay, there is now a hole in my heart that can never be filled.
A sister is someone who is there for you
your whole life through
she loves you in a way that no one else can
and she accepts you for being you.
She stands by your side
and lets you make mistakes
she's there for you no matter what
she'll help you through your heartaches.
She'll listen to your problems
and she'll listen to your dreams
she'll help you mend your cuts
and she'll help you sew your seams.
She's the person that helps you walk down that road
that seems will never end
but when everything is said and done
you found out she was your real friend.
Your sister is your sister
and that's who she'll always be
but no matter what happens
I'll always be proud she's a part of me.
