Introduction
Wind and Water Power Technologies Office
The Wind and Water Power Technologies Office
(WWPTO), within the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s)
Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
(EERE), supports the development, deployment, and
commercialization of wind and water power technologies.
WWPTO works with a variety of stakeholders to identify
and support research and development (R&D) efforts
that improve technology performance, lower costs,
and—ultimately—deploy technologies that efficiently
capture the abundant wind and water energy resources
in the United States. WWPTO is one office that contains
two distinct focus programs: wind and water. The Wind
Program and the Water Power Program operate as
integrated, but separate entities within WWPTO.
