This paper has reviewed the state of audio-visual
materials in Botswana. It has identified the major
challenges facing the collection and management
of aud iovisualmaterials to be inadequate collection/
acquisition policies, lack of a national register, and
infringement of copyright laws, inadequate storage

training. The article recommends that certain
institutions can be designated as repositories under
the provisions of the Botswana National Archives
