Hetland et al. (2002) observed that the weight gains of birds fed diets containing moderate to high levels of whole wheat (125–330 and 300–440 g/kg during 10–24 and 25–38 days, respectively) were reduced, but FCR was significantly improved by 5.1–6.7% compared to those fed diets containing ground wheat. The different effects of diet on performance in poultry might depend on the grain source. Theperformance of geese given the hulled rice diet was as well as those given maize diet.
