The solutions with preservative and an EC 1.00 dS m
had the
longest
overall
vase
life of 14.2 d, but was not significantly different
from
all the other solutions with preservative (Fig. 3). Solution EC
had
no significant effect on vase life, which averaged 12.1 d (data
not
presented). Water uptake was greatest for holding solutions
at
4.00 dS m
−1
(128 mL) and lowest for solutions without holding
preservative
and an EC of 4.00 dS m
−1
(98 mL) (Fig. 5). Treatments
without
preservative
lost 12.73 g in fresh weight as compared to
4.29
g for those with preservative.
Solution
EC and preservative did not interact to produce a significant
difference in incidence of petal wilt, bent neck, and necrotic
petal
(data not presented).
