Modification of a-Al2O3-supported iron catalysts by addition of
low loadings of sulfur had a positive impact on catalytic performance
increasing lower olefins selectivity and catalytic activity
while decreasing methane selectivity. The reduction of methane
production was not associated with a shift of product selectivity
to higher a values but probably it might be attributed to selective
blocking of hydrogenation sites by sulfur, which could at the same
time explain the higher olefin selectivity
