Recently, Galante et al. [30] have studied the localization and
dimensioning of transfer stations in the logistic chain of the solid
waste stream. A 1/S/–/TC,FC,multiobj integrated optimization
approach aiming at defining the number and type of vehicles is
also carried out. Two conflicting objectives consisting in the
minimization of both the total cost and the environmental impact
are considered in an integrated multi-objective optimization
approach. The methodology is applied in the context of the waste
management of the city of Palermo (Italy).
