Pots of ferns and orchids line the walkway in front of the restaurant, leading to a wooden, colonial inspired house with ornate slatted windows. You walk into the lofty bar area, where you can grab an aperitif from Le Lotus Bleu bar and admire the family pictures that cover the walls. Serving staff are dressed in traditional Vietnamese outfits and service is warm and attentive. In the main dining room lotus shaped lanterns hang from the ceiling, corners are filled with antique furniture and the tableware is inscribed with the restaurant’s name. Overall the effect is cheesy but charming. The bathrooms have a slightly risqué decor that might not be to everyone’s taste, such a flashing statue in the ladies and a carving of naked women’s buttocks in the gents.
