Job Description – Chef / Kitchen Manager
Ed Pickens’ Café on Main, based in downtown Mansfield, has a position open for a Chef and Kitchen
Manager.
The candidate will be highly motivated and show good leadership and food preparation qualities, will have
at least 2 year’s experience in a commercial kitchen and willing to work evenings and weekends.
Basic Functions:
• Prepares food required for lunch time café and catered events
• Responsible for the daily operations of the kitchen
• Provides professional leadership and direction to kitchen personnel
• Ensures all recipes, food preparations, and presentations meet Café on Main’s specifications and
commitment to quality
• Maintains a safe, orderly, and clean kitchen
• Demonstrates this by example, using proper food-handling techniques
Essential Functions:
• Assist with menu planning
• Verifies that kitchen staff follow all recipes and portions sizes correctly
• Ensures kitchen and storage areas are kept clean and organized
• Product Ordering
• Maintain Inventory
• Staff Scheduling
Qualifications:
Knowledge:
• College or culinary training or good level of cooking and production experience
• Good standard of math skills
• Understanding of proper use of major kitchen equipment, including stoves, refrigeration, slicer,
knives, and warmers
• A minimum of 2 years working in a food preparation/supervisory position
• Commitment to quality service and food knowledge
• Serve Safe or other recognized hygiene qualification required
Skills / Aptitudes:
• Use of basic software programs including Microsoft Outlook and Word
• Ability to work under pressure in a time sensitive environment
• Able to take direction from business owner
• Demonstrates strong leadership skills and is a team player
• Must hold a valid driver’s license
• Subject to background check
