While originally intended for social capital maintenance, SNS are
shown here to fill a surprisingly useful role in everyday life information
seeking. We hope that this study will encourage more SNS research
with an information behavior focus, especially in terms of the interactions
among SNS affordance, personality, life stage, information needs,
and information satisfaction. This avenue of research will not only
broaden the scope of information behavior and social media studies; it
will also facilitate the effective design and use of social media for diverse
individuals with varying needs. There is much untapped information
seeking potential in SNS. Given the popularity of SNS, the reward in
cultivating such potential should be most satisfying
